Referring to Chan's 7th paragraph about "students going to school and getting a safe and suitable job is not right."

You do have a point where the other subjuects are irrelevant to what your future job might be. Like what you've stated, "What if you become a mathematician next time? Wouldn't all the tiring hours of pure geography and science be a waste?"

But however, what we are learning now is merely the basics, and foundations that we WILL use somehow in future. If we never took science or geography, we might not even know the simple concept on the water cycle, or how to read a map. But obviously i doubt i'll be reading maps, so geography to me is just a waste of time. =)

You might disagree with me when i say that learning the subjects now will prove useful in future.
Lets list some examples ;

~ You can converse with people better, being educated, you're also somehow articulate.
~ If your kids gives you a simple question as " Why is the grass green?" You can tell him its due to cholorophyl and what more of your bio. =)
~ Being good at certain subjects now will show people how wipe spread your knowledge is.
~ If your education is high and you constantly improve yourself, you can climb higher in a job or get poached by other companies offering even higher pay.

Those are just some of the examples i've thought off, if you disagree, please rebut me on your blog. =)
Regarding "Look at all the best players in the olympics. They begin early, focused only on that sport and achieve outstanding results that never fail to keep us excited."

Indeed they never fail to keep us excited, and captivate us. But what else can do besides sports?
Lets start with a simple example, since young, you were trained to be the best, devoting almost all of your time to~ hmmm. Badminton? You won numerous awards and trophys for your outstanding performance.
But one day, you just had to be involved in an serious accident, you've lost the use of your legs. How would you carry on in life, if your only life was badmintion? Basic spoken and written english is all you've learnt in your life. I believed if you woke up and found that you've lost the use of your legs, you'd be so devestated that you'd prefer mercy killing to living a meaningless life.

I know there are a lot of loopholes for you to rebut me on, but heck, learn from each other ya. =D

Tomorrow i will be blogging on friendship issues. =)
